A photo of a killdeer mother. Or father. I don't really know. I thought it rude to ask.
Taken at work, where the new building they built ended up destroying a lot of homes for animals. This killdeer tried to make it work by building her nest in the parking lot, in a little median. I was worried about the nest, so I always made sure to park next to it, so I at least knew I wouldn't hurt the eggs. I took this picture from inside my car, which was the only way she wouldn't do her broken wing act.
There were 4 eggs underneath her. None of them survived.
